Telomerase Activation Research Compound
TAC, also known as TERT activator compound, is a small molecule investigated for its ability to increase telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) gene transcription through the MEK/ERK/AP-1 signaling pathway.
Research Background
Shim and colleagues reported in Cell (2024) that TAC increased TERT expression in primary human cells and naturally aged mice. The study examined telomere synthesis, cellular senescence, inflammatory signaling, and DNMT3B-mediated regulation of p16 expression. These findings are from preclinical research and do not establish efficacy or safety in humans.
